Construction of the new 10,000-seater Kabarnet stadium in Baringo county, is ongoing, with major foundation works complete as teams advance to steelwork, formwork and concrete works for the multi-tier grandstand. 

The government’s intervention to scale up the project has seen the stadium rise on a 15-acre site at the Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) showground in Kaptimbor, on the outskirts of Kabarnet town. 

Upon completion, the facility will feature a standard 400m athletics track, tournament-grade football pitch, covered grandstand and terraces. It is also set to include changing rooms, administrative facilities, parking and auxiliary courts for basketball and volleyball. 

The new stadium is therefore a significant investment in sports infrastructure, providing local talent with a home to train and grow, while creating employment opportunities for young people and the wider community. 

This development is a gamechanger for local talents who for years have had to travel to the neighbouring Nandi and Uasin Gishu counties in search of proper training facilities. The stadium will further create employment, stimulate local enterprise and strengthen Kabarnet’s sporting culture.
