KeNHA Announces One-Month Partial Closure of Waiyaki Way for Maintenance

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a one-month partial closure of Waiyaki Way to allow maintenance works along the Mombasa-bound lanes between Villa Rosa Kempinski and the Museum Hill Interchange.

The closure will run from October 8th to November 7th, 2026, affecting one of Nairobi’s major road corridors used by thousands of motorists travelling between the city centre, Westlands and areas along the Nairobi–Nakuru route.

During the works, motorists using the affected section will be required to follow the temporary traffic management arrangements put in place by KeNHA. The authority has advised road users to use alternative routes where possible and allow additional travel time to avoid delays, particularly during peak hours.

The maintenance works are aimed at improving the condition of the road and ensuring that the affected section remains safe and reliable for motorists. Traffic officers and road marshals will also help guide motorists through the affected areas as the works continue.

Once completed, the works are expected to improve road conditions and traffic movement along the busy Waiyaki Way corridor, supporting smoother daily travel for motorists and other road users.
