The completion of the 200 metre Galana–Kulalu Bridge is more than an infrastructure achievement, it is a proud step towards a better-connected and food secure Kenya.

Spanning the Galana River, the bridge directly links the agricultural zone to the Malindi–Sala Gate Road, replacing the long diversion through Baricho. Farmers, workers and traders can now move inputs, machinery and harvested produce faster, while reduced travel time and transport costs will strengthen local businesses and attract new investment.

The bridge is especially important to the Galana–Kulalu Food Security Project, a flagship irrigation initiative covering Kilifi and Tana River counties. Under its wider development plan, the project targets large-scale irrigated farming, supported by water infrastructure and public-private investment, to increase food production, reduce imports and create employment.

Improved connectivity will also make it easier for communities to access markets, public services and economic opportunities. With coordinated traffic management, road-safety measures , the bridge can serve Kenyans safely for generations.
