Kenya is taking another bold step toward a stronger, better connected future. Japan has confirmed that construction of the Mombasa Gate Bridge will begin under its Official Development Assistance programme, marking a major milestone for infrastructure development at the Coast.
The 1.4km bridge will replace the historic Likoni Ferry with a permanent four-lane road link connecting Mombasa Island to the South Coast. For decades, the ferry has served millions of Kenyans, workers, traders, tourists, and families.
This project is more than concrete and steel. It is a symbol of progress, partnership, and national ambition. As Kenya builds forward, this bridge stands as a proud reminder that development is not just about roads, but about connecting people, opportunity, and the promise of a brighter tomorrow.
