The completion of the Boma Yangu Milimani Vihiga Estate Affordable Housing Project marks another major success under the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). The project is already changing the face of urban development in Vihiga by giving more families access to decent, secure and affordable homes.

Officially commissioned by President William Ruto in March 2026, the development reached a historic milestone when homeowners received keys to their new houses. Located in Vihiga Town, the estate has transformed the Majengo/Milimani area from a low density settlement into a modern gated community.

The project consists of nine apartment blocks with 220 completed residential units. Residents will also benefit from essential infrastructure, including cabro-paved roads, parking bays, street lighting, a secure perimeter wall, a gatehouse, backup power, underground water storage and an integrated waste management facility.

The Milimani Vihiga Estate demonstrates how affordable housing can improve living standards, create well-planned communities and expand home ownership.
