Ruto Reshuffles Government, Names Charles Owino Spokesperson and Unveils Key Nominees

President William Ruto has announced a series of appointments and nominations to key government institutions.

Former police spokesperson Charles Owino has been appointed Government Spokesperson, replacing Isaac Mwaura. Owino will now lead the communication of government policies, programmes and official positions to the public.

Mwaura has been redesignated as Head of the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Disability Rights. His new role will focus on promoting equal participation and protecting the rights of persons with disabilities and other underrepresented groups.

President Ruto has also nominated journalist Mary Kilobi to serve on the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee. Kilobi, will join the body responsible for supporting cooperation between the national and county governments, subject to the required approval process.

Former KNUT Secretary-General Wilson Sossion and Antonina Lentoijoni have been nominated to the Teachers Service Commission Board.

Duncan Ojwang Oburu has also been nominated as chairperson of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority.

The nominations will undergo the necessary vetting and approval processes before the candidates formally assume office.
