Former Harambee Stars captain Victor Mugubi Wanyama has earned FIFA Leadership Certificate after successfully completing the prestigious Players Executive Programme, in Miami, United States of America, with the Kenyan-born now set for administrative roles in the football industry.
Wanyama announced the achievement on his social media page, expressing pride in finishing the programme and highlighting his commitment to continuous learning, personal growth and leadership.
"Proud to have completed the FIFA Players Executive Programme. Another milestone in my journey of learning, growth and leadership beyond football," he said.
The 18-month FIFA Players Executive Programme is designed to equip current and former professional footballers with essential leadership and management skills. It covers areas such as football administration, financial planning, strategic management, youth development and organisational leadership.
The programme also prepares participants for leadership responsibilities within clubs, football associations and other football-related organisations.
Wanyama's participation is particularly significant given his experience at the highest level of international football, having played for Celtic, Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur, while also captaining Kenya's national team, Harambee Stars.
His experience in European football and international competitions gives him valuable insights into the challenges facing modern football.
Completing the FIFA programme is another step towards building a lasting legacy beyond his playing achievements while also offering hope to the next generation of talent.
For Wanyama, the final bow may have signaled the end of one chapter, but his football journey is far from over.
