Why IEBC’s Bold New Registration Drive Could Change Kenya Forever

In a groundbreaking move, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has launched a nationwide voter registration campaign, one that could shape the future of Kenya’s democracy.

At the center of this new push is Iris Recognition Technology, a first for Kenya’s electoral process. This innovation aims to slam the door shut on voter fraud by tackling impersonation, ghost voters, and double registrations head-on. According to IEBC, the system has been integrated into its Biometric Voter Registration kits, ensuring that every registered voter is uniquely and securely identified.

Godfrey Ngunyi, an expert of technology with the IEBC says this is a game changer. "The reason we capture the iris is because of the uniqueness of a person's iris, as well as how long it remains undistorted, unlike the fingerprints which, depending on the work that you do, may change over time. This technology is part of a wider upgrade."

Registration centers are now active in all counties across Kenya. IEBC officials are calling on first-time voters, especially the youth, to seize this moment and get listed before it’s too late.

By registering, young Kenyans claim their rightful place in shaping the nation’s destiny. Your vote isn’t just a ballot slip, it’s your future, your voice, and your power.

Don’t wait. Register today. Be counted.
